Youth Education

Well-developed environmental education programs peak student's curiosity about the natural world.  The Alpine Watershed Group offers presentations, classroom activities, and organizes field trips to engage local youth in their watershed.  Programs we have offered include snowshoe ecology, Carson River Snapshot Day, Trout in the Classroom, and activities for special topics such as drought and fire.

Event Tabling and
Group Presentations
Community education is critical in providing long term protection of our watersheds.  Understanding natural processes helps people protect water quality and scenic resources.  The Alpine Watershed Group regularly tables at community events and is available to conduct presentations to groups upon request.

Watershed Tours and
Project Site Visits
The best way to understand the natural processes involved in our surrounding area is to explore our watershed.  The availability of water, the quality of water, the abundance of wildlife, and the splendor of our natural landscapes is all dependent on a community’s understanding of watersheds.  The Alpine Watershed Group hosts trips out in the field to experience Alpine County's watersheds first hand.  These trips include visits to monitoring sites, ecology tours, and visits to restoration areas.
